Shoulder

The shoulder is one of the most common areas we treat at Performance Therapies. Injuries to this joint can occur suddenly due to trauma or come on slowly over time due to muscle imbalance or overuse. If you have persistent shoulder pain it is not wise to avoid treatment and hope that it will get better on its own. The shoulder joint is complex. Physical therapists are trained to detect and correct many of the different issues that can cause pain. The most common correctable causes of chronic shoulder pain are:

  • poor posture
  • rotator cuff weakness
  • shoulder blade muscle weakness or poor muscle firing pattern.
  • joint stiffness or laxity
